The Westmount Soccer Club (WSC) is an independent parent run organisation aimed at developing competitive soccer skills for boy and girl players. The teams play intercity A level soccer in the Lac St Louis League. The season runs from early May until late September, with tryouts in April.
The program started in 2009 and ran initially as an informal coaching and pickup soccer group, with a few “friendly” inter-city games. In 2012, the organisation incorporated as the Westmount Soccer Club, and is affiliated with the Lac St Louis Soccer League. For the inaugural full season in 2012, we entered one U13 A boys team, that came in third overall position in their league.
In 2013, the club ran two boys teams(U11 and U14) and a u11 girls team. In their first year, the Boys U11 team reached the semis in the division playoffs. In 2014, the Club expanded to two girls teams (U10 and U12) and three boys teams (U10, U13 and U15).
In 2015, the Westmount Soccer Club had four boys teams and two girls teams for boys. 2015 saw the first trophy for the club as playoff U13 boys trophy winners.
2016 saw an expansion to 4 boys teams and 3 girls teams. The U14 boys brought home more silverware for the club as league champions. One of the club players also won the league golden boot award. In 2016, over 220 players tried out for places, with 150 players on the teams. We have around 20 experienced coaches. Inadditional the club had 50 players in the Skill Squad development program preparing for intercity soccer in 2017
The City of Westmount makes the soccer fields available in Westmount Park . The WSC programs run in parallel with the Westmount Sports and Recreation Spring Soccer activities. Most participants in the WSC soccer program also play in the City spring program (10 week program from late April – St Jean Baptiste ). Over 80% of club players are Westmount residents.
The WSC intercity program will run from May-September. Although this overlaps with the Westmount spring soccer program from April-June, we encourage players to participate in both programs. We will endeavour to set up practices and games so that players can participate in both.
