It was a Mother’s Day double header for this armchair critic 🙂
First up, U16M vs Pierrefonds on a beautiful sunny afternoon. This game was all about moments. The build up. Excitement. Passing. Teamwork.
There were bursts of speed and flashes of fancy footwork that would impress even the most intense FIFA gamers.
Our boys played with true grit and did their best to fight off the persistence of their opponents. Unfortunately, even with a multitude of brilliant scoring opportunities, the team fell behind 2-0 and ended there at the final whistle. It may not have a been a win, but this team demonstrated that it has all the right moves and will to win the next one!
Next stop U17M AA vs Dollard. This was first time that WSC has competed at the Youth AA level, and if you were looking to sit back and leisurely watch a quiet game, you came to the wrong place.
This game had moments not for the faint of heart as tackles were the crafty tools of choice by our opponents. But if you have only ever been a spectator at house league games, then you would have witnessed something truly amazing: Pace. Anxiety. Exhilaration. Teamwork.
See the common thread here? It’s teamwork. And this group of U17AAs never gave up until they claimed victory.
It started with a Will’s goal from a corner. Then falling behind 2-1 until the ref awarded us with a successful penalty kick by Julian. Dollard tied it up not long after and then our boys battled harder to come out on top. As the whole team rallied, Ling finally scored to give us the go ahead goal. When the ref called the game, we claimed victory!
Thanks to everyone who came out to support our teams today & a special Happy Mother’s Day to all of our moms!
